ABOUT ANEL BRICKHILL
& Sycamore
I’m a Cape Town–based videographer and photographer, and the heart behind Sycamore Creative Studio. I studied Fine Art at UCT, and my love for analog photography and hand-printed black-and-white images still shapes the way I work today — slow, intentional, and always looking for the beauty in real, unposed moments.
My style leans toward documentary rather than staged or studio-perfect. I’m most inspired by capturing life as it naturally unfolds: the quiet details, the in-between moments, the atmosphere of a place. I love a good road trip, small towns, misty forests, and leaping into beautiful bodies of water — and that sense of curiosity filters into everything I create.
Sycamore Creative Studio is mostly my personal work, but it’s also a space for collaboration. I also work alongside my husband, Liam Brickhill, who brings his own experience and talent to the table. He’s a creative writer first, with a background in journalism, and is now also a videographer, filmmaker, and all-round storyteller. Together, we’re able to blend visuals and narrative in ways that feel honest and human.
I love documenting the important stages in people’s lives — maternity, birth, family stories, and weddings — as well as working with other creatives, small businesses, and anyone building something meaningful. I don’t specialise in just one field because I genuinely enjoy the variety. Every project gives me a glimpse into a different world, and that’s what keeps this work exciting for me.

We do everything from Wedding Films and music videos, to brand content creation and everything in between.
We also do video editing to help elevate your marketing material, webinars, product videos, course content, etc.
Photography
At Sycamore, we love authenticity and our photography reflects that. Any special occasion, from weddings and family shoots, to creative business branding and event shoots.
We also offer film photography for those vintage, one of a kind lovers out there.
Bespoke Hand Prints
These bespoke black-and-white prints are made the old-fashioned way: by hand, in the darkroom. You can choose from my own collection of film photographs or commission something personal. Every print is crafted individually, giving each one its own character, depth, and presence — something digital simply can’t replicate.
